A few months ago while I was spending some weeks in France, I had the chance of watching this amazing story. Pascal is a shepherd who learned the old tradition from Bergamo and Carole is a young girl who wanted to change her life and follows Pascal since then. Both of them embark on their long winter transhumance: four months during which they will have to cover 600 km in the Swiss-French region, accompanied by three donkeys, four dogs and a eight hundred sheep. Although this kind of transhumance is about to extinguish and, probably, has been exaggerated, this first film by Manuel Von Sturler is a little jewel which shows the beauty and cold of a different way of living.
